What is Sandplay™?
Every adult or child must overcome obstacles, face hurts and loss in order to mature in a healthy, well-regulated way. Joseph Campbell conceptualized what he called The Hero's Journey to illustrate stages of initiation, challenge and acceptance of the man's path to maturity. Sandplay™ guides the
client - woman, man or child - through similar processes along their personal heroine or hero's path to "bringing the treasure home". The treasure could be hard-won learning about oneself, a fuller understanding of a client's relationships with others, or a greater sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in one's life.

Sandplay™ can be used as an adjunct to talk therapy, in conjunction with EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis, dreamwork or art therapy. Sometimes an adult or child will make exclusive use of work in the sand during their treatment sessions. It is always the client's choice. I find that clients of any age become more creative and flexible when they make use of this therapeutic modality.
